Belize Lobsterfest is held each year after the lobster season reopens on June 15. The celebrations usually last a duration of three full days and are held at once was the traditional fishing communities in Belize including San Pedro - Ambergris Caye, Placencia and Caye Caulker.

During these celebrations you can expect to find a variety of mouth watering lobster dishes as well as other local food, live music, raffles and games. The grand finale on the third evening usually ends with the popular ‘Lobsterfest Town Block Party’.

2011 Belize Lobsterfest dates

San Pedro, Ambergris Caye Lobsterfest will begin on Sunday June 19th, 2011 and run through the week, culminating with the traditional Lobsterfest Block Party on Saturday June 25th, 2011. Mark your calendars, as this celebration is sure to be the biggest and best ever.

Placencia Lobsterfest will begin on June 24, 25, & 26 on the beach in beautiful and sunny Placencia Village. Placencia Lobsterfest is always a fun filled weekend filled with great musical entertainment, a spectacular two day fishing tournament, a multitude of delicious lobster dishes, loads of games for young and old, and one of the largest raffles in the country of Belize.

Caye Caulker Lobsterfest will begin July 7 and end July 9. Belizean mainlanders, island locals, and tourists will congregate for thumping music, contests, icy drinks, and lobster cooked in every form imaginable. Lobster ceviche and many other dushes..

Unfortunately, overfishing is threatening the local lobster population Belize, and its possible tourism may serve as the island’s only source of income in the near future.

If you crave lobster the Lobesterfest season late June, early July is a great time to visit Belize. The island and beaches of Belize will be bustling with food and festivities during this exciting annual event. A variety of activities includes a fishing tournament, bicycle race, music, drinks and, of course, lobster as much as you can eat will be featured.

Throughout the week lobster would also be featured at most resorts and local restaurants demonstrating their creativity in coming up with the most creative and impressive lobster based menus. You may even find lobster ice cream in some places although, the recipe is still in the experimental mode!
