A. Yes! All foreign nationals need a passport to enter Belize. Visitors are permitted to stay up to one month, provided they have a valid passport (and visa, if required). No visas are required from nationals of the following countries: United States, United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries, Belgium, Denmark, France, Finland, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Mexico, Germany/Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Panama, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, Uruguay. Q. In which time zone is Belize?
A. Belize is on Central Standard Time, like Chicago. However, there are no daylight savings time, i.e., no time change in the summer months. During those months Belize is on Mountain Standard Time, like Denver.

Q. What is Belize culture like?
A. English is the official language of Belize and is widely spoken, as is Spanish, Maya, Garifuna and Creole (broken English). The main ethnic groups are Creole (African- European Descent), Mestizo (Spanish-Maya), and Garifuna (African Descent). There are also a number of people of Spanish and East Indian descent. The ethnic groups however are heavily intermixed except for a small Mennonite community of European origin. Chinese, Arabs and other ethnic groups are also included in the multi-racial make-up. Q. Do I need any vaccinations before I visit Belize?
A. There are no endemic diseases in Belize. No inoculations are required for entry, but anti-malaria tablets are recommended for extended stays in the jungle. If you are on medication we strongly encourage you to bring an adequate supply with you.

Q. Can I drink the water?
A. The tap water in Belize is safe to drink plus most restaurants and grocery stores provide bottled water. Complementary bottled water are also provided by most resorts during your stay.

A. Voltage is 110 like in the USA. Outlets are the same as in the USA.

Q. Are there bugs in Belize?
A. Yes, though most are not a problem. Sand flies, or noseeums, are tiny creatures that bite like mosquitoes. When there is little or no breeze, they come out and can even get through screen. They are more common on the cayes and along sandy coastal areas. In the places where bugs can become a potential problem, most resorts have adequate netting and screens. We recommend that you wear DEET based insect repellant at all times.

Q. What should I wear?
A. Belize is a very Informal country. Take T-shirts, shorts, swimsuit & casual wear. Lightweight clothing, jeans, shorts and short-sleeved shirts. Take a sun hat to protect your face from sunburn. Include a sweater in winter times, light weight jacket, long-sleeved shirt and long pants; they may be needed on boat trips as well as at night and early morning. Don't forget your beach towels, insect repellent, Film/Camera, flashlight, sunscreen, sandals & tennis shoes.

Q. Is it ok to bring young children to Belize?
A. Yes, it is safe. However, some resorts require a minimum age limit for children. You must check with your agent or the resort whenever you are traveling with children to make sure the property is kids friendly. Also, remember that kids are more likely to have stronger reactions to bug bites and illnesses. Please take necessary precautions and keep a close eye on them!

A. The official language of Belize is English. Spanish, Garifuna, Creole, Mopan Mayan and Ketchi Mayan are also widely spoken. In other parts of the country people also speak low-German and Chinese, as well as Yucatec Mayan.

A. Yes! Belize is a safe country. The people in Belize are very friendly and will go out their way to help you with anything. However, like everywhere else, you should exercise caution. Do not wear flashy jewelry and carry large amounts of cash or walk alone at night in the towns. A little common sense always go a long way.

Q. What is the currency rate of exchange? How can I change money?
A. The Belize dollar exchange rate is approximately US $1 = BZ $2. Most hotels can change money in small amounts. Banks also change money. US dollars are widely accepted throughout the country in smaller denominations (20s and under), although US coins are not.

Q. What is the Weather like?
A. The weather is similar to Southern Florida with slightly warmer winters and summers. In the winter the occasional cold fronts, “northern's” do come down from the gulf of Mexico and pass through Belize. At these times it can be overcast, windy, rainy and choppy on the water. The dry season is April, May and late August to early October.

The climate is subtropical with and average annual temperature of 80 degrees. The rainy season is June to mid August. The water temperature is 75-86 degrees Fahrenheit year round.
